Author Guidelines

Contributions are published with the approval of the editorial board of Incontri, which operates independently from the board of Werkgroep Italië Studies. All contributions have to adhere to our Submission Guidelines (English | italiano | Nederlands). A brief overview:

  1. Contributions must be in English, Italian or Dutch.
  2. Length of contributions: (peer reviewed) articles 5000-8000 words (including notes), short articles 2000-3000 words (including notes), translations 3000 words, interviews 3000 words, reviews 1000 words, notes 750 words.
  3. Articles must be submitted with the following information: (a) 5 key words; (b) a brief biography of the author (about 100 words) in the same language as the article; (c) preferred contact details (home or work address); (d) a brief abstract of about 200 words, in English (if the article is in Italian) or in Italian (if the article is in Dutch or English). 
  4. Short articles and translations must be submitted with (a) a brief biography of the author (about 100 words) in the same language as the article; and (b) an address (work or private) and e-mail.
  5. Reviews and notes must be submitted with address (work or private) and e-mail.
  6. Contributions have to be submitted in our standard Template (Articles | ReviewsNotices).
  7. You are welcome to include images in your article. Please make sure that they have a resolution of at least 300 dpi and that you provide captions and quotations. The author is fully responsible for the copyright of the images and ensures that permission has been obtained for use of copyrighted material.

The journal does not charge Article Processing Charges (APC) or submission charges. Authors will receive no financial compensation for their submissions. They will receive a copy of the journal issue, once it has been published.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements:

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (if this is the case, an explanation must be provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Submission Guidelines (English | italiano | Nederlands), and all DOIs for online references have been provided, when available.
  • The author declares the absence of any conflict of interest and warrants that the work does not infringe upon any copyright, proprietary, or personal right of any third party.
  • The submission file is in a Microsoft Word or RTF document file format.
  • All authors have given permission to be listed on the submitted paper. The corresponding author is authorized to speak on behalf of the authors.
